Privacy Policy
How information moves through Disperse, and how to ask about yours.
These pages are being prepared for launch and are not yet the effective terms or final privacy notice. AI training settings, retention, and processing locations still need confirmation.
Sift processes supplied media and transcripts using AI services. Sign-in uses Clerk. Editor drafts may be stored on your device. Email us for privacy, access, correction, or deletion requests.
1. Who handles your information
Disperse, based in Queensland, Australia, operates disperse.video. For privacy questions or requests, email team@disperse.video.
This policy covers information handled through our website, accounts, Sift, editor, and campaign features where available. It does not describe an external campaign organiser's or social platform's independent data practices.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: identifiers and profile details supplied through sign-in, such as your email address and information you choose to provide.
- Media and instructions: source links, uploaded video, audio and images, file metadata, prompts, editing instructions, transcripts, generated captions, clips, and job details. These may contain information about people appearing in the footage.
- Campaign information: briefs, membership, submissions, post links, and information supplied for campaign administration when those features are used. Any payment or identity-verification collection must be explained when it is introduced.
- Technical information: connection and request information used by hosting and security services, including IP address, browser or device information, request times, and errors.
- Communications: support messages, privacy requests, complaints, and the details needed to investigate them.
We collect information directly from you, through service operation, and from sources you ask us to process. Only supply other people's personal information where you have an appropriate right or authority to do so. Do not upload identity documents, confidential records, or sensitive personal information unless needed for an expressly supported feature and you have the necessary permission.
3. How information is used
We use information to create and secure accounts; retrieve and process requested media; generate and deliver clips; restore editing work; administer enabled campaigns; answer requests; investigate abuse and faults; and meet legal obligations.
Information used to provide a requested feature may be necessary for that feature to work. You can choose not to provide optional information. If you do not provide information needed for a feature, we may be unable to provide it.
Marketing messages are subject to the applicable consent requirements and include an unsubscribe option. Account and service messages may still be sent where necessary to operate the service.
4. AI processing and model training
Sift uses OpenAI services for transcript analysis and, depending on the processing route, audio transcription or captions. Relevant audio, transcript text, and your instructions are sent for that processing. AI responses become part of your job results.
AI processing can create inaccurate information. Review results before relying on or publishing them, and contact us if a result contains personal information that needs correction or removal.
Pending confirmation before publication: Disperse's position on model training, the provider account's data-sharing settings, and provider retention arrangements must be confirmed here. This draft makes no promise that inputs are excluded from all model training.
5. Service providers and other recipients
The current implementation uses the following services or infrastructure. They receive the information needed for their role; the exact production configuration must be checked before this draft takes effect.
| Service | Purpose and information involved |
|---|---|
| Clerk | Account creation, authentication, and session security; sign-in details and related account and connection information. |
| OpenAI | AI analysis and transcription; relevant instructions, transcript text, or audio supplied for processing. |
| Vercel and Render | Website and application hosting; network requests, operational records, and application information handled by the relevant service. |
| Google Fonts | Font delivery on pages that request it; the browser connects to Google and sends request information such as IP address and browser details. |
When you deliberately submit work to a campaign, the organiser may receive the submission and information needed to review it. Publicly posting a clip makes it available according to the destination platform's rules.
We may disclose information where legally required, to protect people or the service where lawful, or to professional advisers under appropriate obligations. If the business is transferred, any proposed transfer of personal information must comply with applicable law and be explained where required.
6. Overseas processing
Our providers may process information outside Australia. Being based in Queensland does not mean all uploads or account data remain in Australia.
Pending confirmation before publication: identify the production hosting locations and the countries in which relevant providers are likely to process or access personal information. Confirm the safeguards and any transfer mechanism needed for users outside Australia.
7. Storage, retention, and deletion
The service stores source media, processing records, transcripts, and generated results to run jobs and make results available. Some editor drafts and imported assets are saved in your browser's local storage facilities, including IndexedDB. Clearing site data or changing browsers can remove access to local drafts; export anything you want to keep.
Pending confirmation before publication: specify and implement retention periods or clear retention criteria for uploads, generated clips, transcripts, inactive accounts, logs, support records, and backups. Automatic deletion of all these categories has not been verified for this draft.
You can request access, correction, account closure, or deletion at team@disperse.video. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity. We will explain what we can do, any lawful reason to retain records, and any applicable limits. Deleting a Disperse record does not remove copies already published on external platforms or saved by other people.
8. Security and your choices
Account authentication and access checks help protect information. No internet or storage system is risk-free. Protect your account, avoid sharing sign-in credentials, and contact us if you suspect a security problem.
The Cookies & Storage page explains browser storage and controls. You may also unsubscribe from marketing emails. Privacy rights depend on the laws that apply to you; these may include access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction, or portability. Email us to make a request or ask which rights apply.
9. Age eligibility
Disperse is intended for users aged 18 and over under our proposed Terms of Service. If you believe a child has supplied personal information without appropriate authority, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
10. Complaints and changes
Send privacy concerns to team@disperse.video. Describe the issue and the outcome you are seeking; do not send passwords or unnecessary identity documents. We will assess the request and explain our response.
Where Australian privacy law applies, you may be able to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. You may also contact another competent regulator where applicable law permits.
We will update this notice when practices change and provide additional notice where required. The published version will state its effective date.
